Karl Oerder

Johannes Karl Maria Oerder SDB (born October 31, 1928 in Linde-Scheurenhof in the Rhineland ; † August 16, 2019 in Cologne ) was a German Roman Catholic religious priest and long-time provincial and missionary procurator of the Salesians of Don Bosco .

Life

Karl Oerder, one of four children of a railroad worker, grew up in Linde-Scheurenhof. He lived with his family in Rösrath from 1938 to 1947 . Oerder first learned the job of a chemical laboratory assistant. Since he wanted to join the order of the Salesians of Don Bosco, he attended the Salesians evening high school in Buxheim near Memmingen .

On August 15, 1953, after the novitiate year in Ensdorf, he made his first profession and in 1956 his perpetual vows. From 1957 to 1961 he studied in Turin and Messina philosophy and Catholic theology and received on 29 June 1961 in Benediktbeuern the priesthood .

He first worked in the youth pastoral care in Velbert , then as head of the Salesian apprenticeship home in Essen-Borbeck . From 1965 to 1970 he was Provincial Vicar, from 1970 to 1978 Provincial of the North German Order Province. From 1974 to 1978 Oerder was also head of the Conference of German Superiors .

In 1978 he took over the management of the mission procuration of the Salesians Don Bosco in Bonn and was at the same time pastor of St. Winfried in Bonn's government district. He remained Mission Procurator until 2003. Until 2012 he worked as a representative for missionary animation and chaplain of the nuns in the Sacred Heart Monastery in Bonn-Ramersdorf . He was a co-founder and board member of Don Bosco Mondo eV

Since 2013 he has lived in the Dominikus Savio House of the Don Bosco Jünkerath youth education center .
