Karl Wilhelm von Byern (born March 7, 1737 in Parchen , † June 5, 1800 in Elze ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the Cuirassier Regiment No. 6 and heir to Lentzke .

Life

His parents were the heir of Parchen and captain Adam Rudolf von Byern (* 1695 - 8 January 1774) and his wife Hedwig Elisabeth, née von Quast from the Radensleben family .

Military career

He came on March 12, 1753 as a standard squire in the Dragoon Regiment No. 5 . On August 3, 1756, he became a cornet in the Garde du Corps . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Roßbach , Zorndorf and Liegnitz . In addition, according to the King's will , he received a gold commemorative medal for Torgau . During that time he was promoted to lieutenant on February 18, 1757.

On March 4, 1766 he was staff assistant master and on September 23, 1773 Rittmeister and company commander of the 2nd Squadron of the Guard in Charlottenburg. On October 28, 1778 he became a major and shortly afterwards he entered the War of the Bavarian Succession . On September 25, 1785, he became commander of the regiment and on June 2, 1787, he became the governor of Egeln (i. Sa.). From there, Byern received an additional income of 500 thalers. In the following year on June 2, 1788 he became lieutenant colonel and on June 16, 1789 colonel . On May 23, 1792 he received the order Pour le Mérite and on October 24, 1794 he was appointed major general. On October 18, 1794 Byern led the guards, infantry regiments No. 8 and 13 with artillery to the assembly point in Landsberg an der Warthe . On October 24, 1794 he moved to Gniezno via Rogoczno . On November 23, 1794, he took command of General Elsner in Kutno . And on December 28, 1794 he was appointed chief of the 6th Cuirassier Regiment. From 1796 to 1800 he was assigned to the observation army on the Weser, from 1798 the regiment was in Bückeburg . He died on June 5, 1800 in Elze .

On September 6, 1768, he married Friederike Ulrike Zinnow (born February 21, 1753 Berlin; † June 15, 1820 Lentzke), a daughter of the secret finance councilor Johann Christoph Zinnow .
