Karl Wohlhart
Karl Wohlhart (born September 11, 1928 in Aschach an der Steyr ) is an Austrian engineering scientist and professor emeritus at the Technical University in Graz .
Life
After graduating from the HTL Steyr, Wohlhart studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University (today Technical University) in Graz from 1947. After years as a university assistant, he received his doctorate in technical sciences in 1966. In 1969 he joined the DFVLR , the German Aerospace Research Institute in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In 1971 he received the Venia Legendi for mechanics at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He held lectures in Bochum, Aachen, Leoben and Innsbruck and at the beginning of 1972 he was able to start as a full professor for theoretical machine science in Graz. In 1977 he was appointed full professor and head of the Institute of Mechanics. Wohlhart has written around 45 scientific papers in the 20 years at the TU. For twelve years he was chairman of the Austrian National Committee of IFToMM, the International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms , which elected him a member of the Executive Council in 1995.
