Adolf Slattenschek

Adolf Slattenschek (born July 18, 1901 in Graz , † September 20, 1979 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian technician and university lecturer for mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna. Here he also reorganized the test and research institute TVFA.

Slattenschek studied mechanical engineering at the TH Graz and then worked at the Graz Technical Research Institute. From 1935 he designed racing cars and aircraft engines in Stuttgart , in 1942 he continued some scientific work in Graz. After the war, he founded a large mechanical engineering company in Liezen (Styria) in 1945 , the success of which earned him an appointment to the Vienna University of Technology in 1952 . For the academic years 1960/61 he was elected rector.

As a professor for mechanical technology and building materials , he modernized the basics of these subjects as well as the tasks and the machine park of the TVFA of this university, of which he soon became director. He made particular merits in testing steel materials and testing techniques for power plants .
