Robert Thomann

Robert Thomann (born June 1, 1873 in Münchwilen TG ; † June 18, 1958 in Winterthur ) was a Swiss civil engineer and university professor .

Life

After attending primary school in Münchwilen. the secondary school in Wattwil and the cantonal school in Frauenfeld , Robert Thomann began studying mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich in 1892 , which he obtained in 1896 with the academic degree of Dipl. Masch.-Ing. ETH graduated. Thomann was employed there as an assistant before he took up an engineering position in Milan .

In 1900 Robert Thomann accepted a full professorship for hydropower machines and systems at the Technical University of Stuttgart , where he was rector from 1909 to 1911. In 1921 he became a full professor at the École d'ingénieurs de l'Université de Lausanne . Thomann last taught at the TH Graz from 1928 to 1940 . Robert Thomann returned to Switzerland in 1944, where he died in Winterthur in 1958, just after he was 85 years old.
