Anton Pischinger

Anton Pischinger (born April 21, 1907 in Linz ; † July 19, 2003 ) was an Austrian mechanical engineer .

Life

Pischinger studied mechanical engineering at the Graz University of Technology , where he received his doctorate in 1932. He completed his habilitation three years later in the field of heat engines. In 1942 Anton Pischinger was appointed full professor for internal combustion engines, of which he later became director. In 1968 he was rector of the Graz University of Technology for one year.

Pischinger played a key role in the development and improvement of diesel engines and injection pumps.

Together with his nephew, Franz Pischinger , he published the standard work on mixture formation and combustion in diesel engines .

Honors

Pischinger has received numerous prizes and awards. He received the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, 1st Class, as well as the Great Gold Medal of Honor with Star for services to the Republic of Austria . Pischinger was the bearer of the Ring of Honor of the State of Styria and the City of Graz. He was also awarded the Great Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Styria and the Medal of Honor of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau. The Technical University of Vienna awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1980 . Since 1966 he was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and an external member since 1969 .
