Karl Borromäus Hohl , from 1880 von Hohl , (born August 11, 1825 in Ohmenheim , † May 27, 1899 in Stuttgart ) was a German lawyer and politician.

Karl hollow studied from 1843 at the University of Tuebingen first Philology, then from 1844 Catholic theology and finally from 1846 Jura . In 1850 and 1852 he passed the two higher judicial service exams and then entered the Württemberg judicial service. Hohl began his career as an assistant judge and court actuary at various court locations in Württemberg. From 1858 to 1862 he was senior judicial assessor at the court in Ulm , from 1862 to 1866 senior magistrate in Geislingen an der Steige and from 1866 to 1869 senior judiciary at the civil senate of the court in Ulm. From 1869 he was a district judge at the district court in Stuttgart for ten years before he was promoted to director of the district court in Stuttgart in October 1879. In 1884 he was released from judicial office in order to focus on his political work. In March 1895 he was retired with the title of Councilor of State.

From 1872 until his death in 1899, Karl Hohl held an uninterrupted mandate in the Württemberg Chamber of Deputies , which he was always able to maintain in the elections in the Geislingen Oberamt against a fluctuating number of opposing candidates. He organized the state party , with which he united the government-loyal and conservative, mostly Catholic, MPs. Since there was no culture war in Württemberg , the Catholics saw the need to found the center's own Württemberg regional association in 1895 . Until then, the progressive-minded MPs among the Württemberg Catholics were either supporters of the democratic people 's party or joined the parliamentary group of the Left in the state parliament . The conservative state party strongly supported the politics of Prime Minister Hermann von Mittnacht in the state parliament . From 1882 to 1894 Karl Hohl was President of the Chamber of Deputies of the State Parliament in Stuttgart, also known as the Second Chamber. In 1895 he joined the national liberal German party .

family

Karl Hohl was the son of the teacher Joseph Hohl (1793–1869) and Agatha Hohl born. Egstein (1803-1854) in Ohmenheim and had twelve siblings. From 1859 he was married to Mathilde Friz (1833–1898), from whom he had three children. Karl Hohl belonged to the Roman Catholic Church.
