The name is of Polish origin. There are several etymological interpretations: The part of the name mir can be derived from the Old Slavic word Mir (Russian Мир "peace" or "world"). The component kasi indicates the word kazać for “to create” or “command” or kazić for “to destroy”. The meanings thus range from “peacemaker” or “world ruler” to “troublemaker”.
