Kaspar Waldmann
Kaspar Waldmann (* 15. July 1657 in Innsbruck ; † 18th November 1720 ) was an Austrian painter of the Baroque , of the early masters of fresco painting in Tyrol counts.
Life
Kaspar Waldmann was the son of the painter Michael Waldmann the Elder from his second marriage to Maria Gras, who was a daughter of the sculptor Caspar Gras . The painter Michael Waldmann the Younger was his half-brother; But since he was 17 years older than Kaspar and the father died when he was half a year old, Michael had a strong influence on Kaspar. He was also his first teacher in the art of painting. He learned to fresco from the Schor family of painters and in Italy. In 1684 he became a citizen of Innsbruck. He married the wealthy brewer's daughter Regina de Lama von Büchsenhausen and in 1692 became city councilor of Innsbruck. In 1697 he applied for permission to serve beer. His daughter Maria Anna was married to the Innsbruck painter Johann Michael Hudez.

Waldmann mainly dealt with religious representations. The focus and his artistic achievement is to be found in fresco and decorative painting . At that time he was a leader in this field in Tyrol. His pictures are popularly colorful. After initially being under the influence of Egid Schor , after 1700 he found a freer composition that is related to the late baroque .
