Kateryna Oleksandriwna Tabaschnyk ( Ukrainian Катерина Олександрівна Табашник , English transcription Kateryna Tabashnyk; born June 15, 1994 in Kharkiv ) is a Ukrainian high jumper and former heptathlete .

Athletic career

Kateryna Tabaschnyk gained her first experience at international championships at the 2011 World Youth Championships near Lille , where she was eliminated with 1.67 m in qualification. In 2012 she took part in the heptathlon at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , but had to abandon her competition there on the second day. In 2013 she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg , but also dropped out there with 1.80 m in the qualification. At the Junior European Championships in Rieti that same year she won the gold medal with 1.90 m. In 2017 it rose to 1.95 m at the traditional meeting in Rovereto . The following year she qualified for the European Championships in Berlin , where she finished fifth with a jump over 1.94 m. At the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2019 in Glasgow she was fourth with 1.97 m.

Doping ban

In January 2020, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced that Tabaschnyk had been banned retrospectively for taking the banned substance hydrochlorothiazide . The ban applies from March 28, 2019 to October 27, 2020.
