history

The church is a pre-Reformation parish that was Protestant at times . She has been Catholic again since 1673. The church is a Romanesque - early Gothic church building. The church tower and the vault of the nave date from the first half of the 17th century. After a tower fire, it was rebuilt in 1857. In 1875 the church was renovated by Friedrich Summerspach and in 1976 a restoration took place.

architecture

Church exterior

The church has a two-storey west tower with an eight-sided pyramid spire. The retracted choir is low and closed flat. In the east wall is a bricked-up pointed arch window.

Church interior

Above the three-bay nave there is a barrel vault with stitch caps . The west gallery is early Gothic. It is underpinned with a powerful cross vault with ribbon ribs. It opens up to the nave through three pointed arches. The baroque wooden parapet is bulged and dates from the 18th century. The intermediate yoke is the former basement of an early Gothic east tower. The yoke is arched with a pointed barrel. It is set off from the nave and the choir by wide belt arches that rest on consoles . Over the two choir bays is an early Gothic ribbed vault that rests on Romanesque round double services . On the triumphal arch are wall paintings from around 1700. The wall painting depicts the "Crucifixion of Jesus with Mary and John ". They were painted over in later times and rediscovered and exposed in 1976 during the renovation.

Furnishing

The high altar dates from the first half of the 18th century and was modified between 1770 and 1780. It consists of a pilaster wall with acanthus ears on the sides. The top is low and decorated with putti . The altarpiece is an oil painting depicting the "farewell of the apostles Peter and Paul". It was created after an etching by Franz Anton Maulpertsch and is possibly the work of one of his students. It was restored in 1964.

The left side altar is a flat frame with half columns and cartilage ears from the end of the 17th century. The altarpiece depicts “Maria with Child” and “Maria vom Guten Rat”. The right side altar was built around 1710 and was changed between 1770 and 1780. It is a flat columned altar with acanthus ears. The altarpiece, an oil painting, is flanked by the side figures of Saint Barbara and Catherine . The top is decorated with vases and rocaille ornamentation. The pulpit dates from the middle of the 18th century. The relief "Abraham's sacrifice" is depicted on the three-sided basket. The tablets of the Law of Moses and the Brazen Serpent can be seen on the sound cover .
