Katja Boost

Katja Boost (* 1972 in Wiesbaden ) is a German opera, oratorio, lied and concert singer ( alto ).

Life

Katja Boost began her vocal training at the age of 15 with Gertie Charlent at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz. There she began her studies in opera and concert after graduating from high school, which she completed in 1996. She completed master classes with Thomas Dewald , Ulf Bästlein and Julia Hamari . During her studies Katja Boost made guest appearances on the stages in Karlsruhe and Cologne. In summer 1998 she sang the role of Filipyevna in Eugene Onegin for the European Opera in the new Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and at the Theater des Champs Elysees in Paris . In spring 2016 she made a guest appearance at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern in this very role .

From September 1999 to July 2000 she was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera . Festival appearances led Katja Boost u. a. to Wiesbaden , Konstanz and Merzig . At the beginning of the 2000/2001 season she was part of the permanent ensemble of the Cologne Opera.

From the 2005/2005 season Katja Boost will be working as a freelancer. She has made guest appearances on major German-speaking theaters such as Berlin, Bremen, Graz, Kassel, Münster, Schwerin and Wiesbaden. Her repertoire includes a. the 3rd lady ( Die Zauberflöte ), Schwertleite ( Die Walküre ), Katharina ( Johanna on the stake ), Annina ( Der Rosenkavalier ), Lucia ( Cavalleria rusticana ), Quickly ( Falstaff ), Princess Clarissa ( The love of the three oranges ) , Erda ( Siegfried ) and the 2nd Norn ( Götterdämmerung ).

As a song and concert singer, Katja Boost made especially in the romantic concert repertoire, such as B. Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, Verdi's Requiem or Mahler's 2nd Symphony attracted attention. In September 1999 she went on a concert tour on behalf of the Goethe Institute with the songs of a traveling journeyman by Gustav Mahler to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Katja Boost has worked with conductors such as Gerd Albrecht , Philippe Auguin , Will Humburg , Philippe Jordan , Markus Stenz , Jeffrey Tate and directors such as Christopher Alden , Andreas Baesler , Robert Carsen , Berry Koski , Wolfram Mehring and Ulrich Peters .

Katja Boost is married and has two children.
