Kazimierz Górny (born December 24, 1937 in Lubień ) is a Polish emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Rzeszów .

Life

After graduating from high school in Cracow , he entered the local seminary and studied theology and philosophy . The Auxiliary Bishop of Krakow, Karol Wojtyla , ordained him on June 29, 1960. Priest . After ten years in the parish pastoral work, he received special assignments in 1970 from the Archbishop Cardinal Wojtyła in the Metropolitan Curia in Cracow.

On October 26, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Krakow and titular bishop of Pertusa . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on January 6, 1985 ; Co-consecrators were Eduardo Martínez Somalo , Apostolic Nuncio to Australia , and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .

His motto is Omnia Tibi ("Alles Dir").

He became Vicar General of Cardinal Franciszek Macharski .

On March 25, 1992 he was appointed the first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Rzeszów and was introduced to his diocese on April 11, 1992 in the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rzeszów.

Górny was instrumental in founding the University of Rzeszów .

On June 14, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
