Kazuo Ietani

Kazuo Ietani ( Japanese 家 谷 和 男 , Ietani Kazuo; born August 25, 1977 in Tatsuno ) is a former Japanese long-distance runner .

In 2001 he finished sixth in the Tokyo International Men's Marathon and second in the Japanese Company Half Marathon Championship . A victory in the half marathon of the East Asian Games in Osaka was followed by a 24th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Bristol . The following year he came 15th in the Rotterdam Marathon .

In 2004 he finished third in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon , ninth in the Japanese Company Half Marathon Championship, twelfth in the Sapporo Half Marathon and fourth in the Great Scottish Run . The following year he was after fourth places in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon and the Japanese Half Marathon Company Championship fifth over 10,000 m at the Asian Athletics Championships 2005 in Incheon. At the Half Marathon World Championships in Edmonton he finished eighth in the individual standings and won bronze with the Japanese team.

In 2006 he finished fourth in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon and second in the Japanese Company Half Marathon Championship. At the road running world championships in Debrecen over 20 km, he finished 27th. In 2007 he finished seventh in the Japanese Company Half Marathon Championship, and in 2008 he won the Gold Coast Marathon after finishing second in the Kyoto Half Marathon and third in the Sendai Half Marathon . At the Half Marathon World Championships in Rio de Janeiro , he came in 37th.

In 2014 he announced his retirement from competitive sports. He started for the Sanyo team .
