The Keesegg (also Keeseck ) is 3173 m above sea level. A. high mountain in Defereggental , in the Hohe Tauern National Park in East Tyrol .
It is the highest peak of the Panargenkamm , a mountain range that delimits the Defereggental in the rear part (i.e. starting shortly after St. Jakob in Defereggen ) on the northern side. The spelling or naming is not clear. In some maps the mountain is also called Keeseck . The mountain hit the headlines after the death of nine-year-old Jakub Tejkl . (see also Rotenmanntörl ).
Tours
There are no marked paths up to the Keeseck summit. An ascent is therefore only recommended for experienced mountaineers. The Keeseck can be reached
- from the Neue Reichenberger Hütte ( 2586 m ), walking time around 4 hours: from the Daberlenke heading south on the lateral moraine of the Panargenkees, past the Gamsköpfl on the right. Climbing over the steep north ridge, you reach the upper firn field. You now climb the summit in a westerly direction.
- from the Oberhaus-Alm ( 1786 m ), walking time 6 hours: past the Großbachsee
- from Rotenmanntörl ( 2997 m ), walking time 3 hours: over the Panargenkees and the Daberkees
