Keith Francis Hanson (* 26. April 1957 in Bemidji , Minnesota ) is a retired American ice hockey player , who among other 25 games during his playing career 1977 to 1985 Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender denied Has.

Career

Hanson first played for the Austin Mavericks in the Midwest Junior Hockey League between 1975 and 1977 . From there he was selected in the ninth round of the NHL Amateur Draft in 1977 in 145th place by the Minnesota North Stars from the National Hockey League . Before the defender switched to the professional field, he spent four years until the summer of 1981 at Northern Michigan University . In addition to his studies, he played there for the ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 1978/79 season, however, he paused and did not play in the university team.

In the professional field, Hanson ran for the first time in the 1981/82 season for the Toledo Goaldiggers in the International Hockey League , followed by a season with the Birmingham South Stars in the Central Hockey League . Then the defender was transferred to the Calgary Flames in June 1983 with Mike Eaves for Steve Christoff and a second-round suffrage in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft . The season 1983/84 Hanson then spent with the Flames themselves and their farm team , the Colorado Flames , in the CHL. After the 1984/85 season , which he had completed with the Moncton Golden Flames in the American Hockey League , he ended his active career at the age of 28 in the summer of 1985.

International

For his home country, Hanson played at the 1977 Junior World Championship in Czechoslovakia . There he was used in all seven tournament games for the US boys and took seventh place with the team. Hanson remained pointless during the tournament.
