Kehlhof (building)
As Kehlhof or Chehlhof , formerly also Kellhof , Kelhof , Kelnhof , Kellnhof , Kölnhof (from Latin colonus = Kolonat ) in certain, formerly Alemannic , parts of Swabia and Switzerland, an estate is named that was subject to a ( Benedictine ) monastery . The administrator of this spiritual estate was called the cellar or waiter.
Today, in addition to residential buildings, farms and inns, towns, hamlets or districts that have formed around an earlier Kehlhof bear the name Kehlhof. Kehlhof and Kehlhofer also appear as family names.
Farm estates that were subject to interest by secular lords were called Fronhöfe . The Meierhof is a farm , especially in Northern Germany, where the manager (the Meier ) of a noble or ecclesiastical estate once lived.
