Kelly Errin Herndon (* 3. November 1976 in Bedford , Ohio ) is a former American American football poker players. He played as cornerback in the National Football League (NFL), XFL and NFL Europe (NFLE).

Career

Herndon played college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 1995 to 1998 .

In 1999, Herndon was signed as an Undrafted Free Agent by the San Francisco 49ers . There he was released before the start of the season. In 2000 he played with the Barcelona Dragons in the NFL Europe . He also spent the offseason 2000 with the 49ers. In 2001 he played with the Las Vegas Outlaws in the XFL . After the end of the XFL season, the New York Giants signed him . They released him on August 27, 2001, but canceled his release shortly afterwards. He was finally released on September 3, 2001. He was then committed for the 2001 season by the Denver Broncos for their Practice Squad . In 2002 he made it into their squad and played 14 games, mainly in the special teams . In 2003 he played in 15 games, eleven of them from the start, and was also a starter in 2004 . In 2005, the Seattle Seahawks signed Herndon as a free agent. He was awarded a five-year contract for $ 15 million. With the Seahawks he made it to Super Bowl XL , where he intercepted a pass from Ben Roethlisberger and carried it back over 76 yards to the 20-yard line, which was a new, now broken, Super Bowl record and the only touchdown the Seahawks prepared in the Super Bowl loss. He also played for the Seahawks in 2006 and carried a blocked fell goal against the Kansas City Chiefs back to a touchdown. He started all of the games that season but was injured in the last game of the season. On June 1, 2007, he was released from the Seahawks. On June 10, 2007, the Tennessee Titans signed him for three years. However, he only played four games there and was released on March 7, 2008.
