Kemai
Kemai is an ancient genus of vases from Campania .
The vases of the Kemai genus are found in the late 4th and early 3rd centuries BC. Dated. The genus was named after the inscription Kemai on one of the associated vases, which is now in the British Museum . The dominant vessel shape is reminiscent of stamnoi , but has vertical handles, sharply drawn in shoulders and protruding lips. Since lids have often been preserved, many scientists also assign the vessels to the pyxides . The decoration consists of ornamental painting. Are shown palmettos , Crisscross, wavy lines, dot motifs, trailing ivy and the like. The decorations can be found mainly on the shoulders of the vessels and on the lid. The rest remains mostly clayey. White additional color is often used.
