From Potosí, the 1,215-kilometer-long asphalt road Ruta 1 leads south to Cuchu Ingenio and then via Tres Cruces to Tarija and Bermejo on the Argentine border. At Cuchu Ingenio a country road branches off to the south, which leads down the Río Caiza past Caiza "D" to Kestuchi and on via Pancochi , Calila and Toropalca to Tumusla .
