Kettle Falls is a city ( City ) in Stevens County in the US state of Washington after the nearby Kettle Falls of the Columbia River was named, once an important place for salmon fishing of American Indians . At the United States Census 2010 , Kettle Falls had 1,595 inhabitants, which means a growth of 4.5% compared to the Census of 2000 .

Kettle Falls is located at 48 ° 36'21 "N / 118 ° 3'35" W. The original Kettle Falls was officially recognized as a local authority on December 17, 1891 ; it was on the banks of the Columbia River. It was flooded by Lake Roosevelt when the Grand Coulee Dam was built in 1940 ; the town planners moved the city to a community called Meyers Falls , which - located near the railway line - was to be successful as a transshipment point between boat and rail traffic for forest and agricultural products and products of the paper industry. This is still their location today, eight miles (12.8 km) northwest of Colville and a good 80 miles (128 km) northwest of Spokane . It is located 30 miles (48 km) south of the border between Canada and the United States at Laurier and in the vicinity of Lake Roosevelt , the reservoir of the Columbia River . According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.77 km², which does not include water.

As of the 2010 census , Kettle Falls had 1,595 residents, 676 households, and 419 families. The population density was 576.6 per km ². There were 726 housing units at an average density of 262 per km².
The population was 90.9% white , 0.1% African American , 2% American Indian , 0.4% Asian , 0.1% Pacific islander , and 0.6% other "Races" and 5.9% from two or more "Races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 1.7% of the population.
Of the 676 households, 31.2% had children under the age of 18, 44.7% were run by married couples living together , 12.3% by single mothers and 5% by single fathers; 38% were non-families. 31.7% of the households were singles and 13.8% were single persons over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.95.
The median age in the city was 38.6 years. 26.6% of the population were under 18, 7.6% between 18 and 24, 23.9% between 25 and 44, 25.4% between 45 and 64 and 16.3 65 years or older. 47.6% of the population were men and 52.4% women.

As of the 2000 census , Kettle Falls had 1,527 residents, 632 households, and 398 families. The population density was 627.2 per km ². There were 686 housing units at an average density of 281.8 per km².
The population was 91.29% White , 0.07% African American , 3.86% Indian , 0.2% Asian , 0.07% Pacific Islander , 0.65% from other "races" and 3.86% from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 2.75% of the population.
Of the 632 households, 33.7% had children under the age of 18, 47.2% were run by married couples living together and 11.2% by single mothers; 37% were non-families. 31.8% of the households were singles and 14.4% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.05.
The median age in the city was 34 years. 29.4% of the population were under 18, 8.3% between 18 and 24, 25.9% between 25 and 44, 20.5% between 45 and 64 and 15.8 65 years or older. There were 95.8 men for every 100 women, and 92.2 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.

In 1999, a four-year-old boy was injured in a puma attack near a house "on US Highway 395 about one mile south of Barstow in Ferry County and about eleven miles northwest of Kettle Falls."
