Kevin Lim (born November 15, 1986 in Berlin ) is a Malaysian hockey player who has both German and Malaysian roots.
Career
Kevin Lim started playing hockey at HC Argo 04 at the age of seven . Via TSV Zehlendorf 88 , he joined the youth team of the Berlin HC in 2002 . With the club's U16 he won the German indoor hockey championship a year later. He was appointed to the Bundesliga team for the first time at the age of 16.
In 2005 Kevin Lim made his debut in the German national hockey team . Before that, he played in all youth national teams of the German Hockey Association and was U16 European Champion in 2002.
In 2010 Kevin Lim turned his back on the Berlin HC for one season and joined the team from the University of Kuala Lumpur from the Malaysian Premier Division. He completed the main round of the championship with his team in fifth place and was eliminated in the subsequent play-offs in the quarter-finals against Maybank .
In 2012 he won the German field hockey championship with the men of the Berlin Hockey Club on the local facility in Berlin-Zehlendorf . This was the first national field title for the club in 47 years. He has also been the team's captain since the 2013/14 season.
After a long back and forth, the international hockey federation gave Kevin Lim approval for the Malaysian hockey federation in early 2014, paving the way for a continuation of his international career. He made his debut for Malaysia at the Champions Challenge I in Kuantan . With the team he won the bronze medal there.
Following the tournament, Kevin Lim was appointed to the squad for the upcoming World Hockey Championship in The Hague , but injured himself in the last preparatory game and was unable to play for the tournament.
After the disappointment about the missed hockey world championship , Kevin Lim played the XX with a greatly rejuvenated team . Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and reached 7th place. The disappointing placement meant the end for national coach Muhammad Dharma Raj Abdullah. The successor Kevin Lim did not nominate for the Asian Games that followed shortly thereafter .
Following the successful first half of the Bundesliga season 2014/2015 with his home club, the Berliner Hockey Club , he left Germany to join the University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) team from the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) again for one season . After his interlude in Malaysia, he returned to his home club in Berlin. After missing the Final Four of the 2015 German Championship, Kevin Lim decided to move on to the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) and joined the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club .
