Kidane Yebio (born January 25, 1958 in Shinara , Eritrea ) is the Eritrean Catholic Bishop of Keren .

Life

Kidane Yebo attended St. Joseph School in Keren from 1969 to 1973 , which is run by the brothers of the Christian schools . Then he went to the small seminary in Keren, in 1976 he switched to the seminary in Asmara . Here he completed his school days with a university entrance qualification . From 1980 to 1982 he studied biology and general sciences at the University of Asmara . He moved to the Theological Institute in Asmara in 1983 and was ordained a priest on June 30, 1985 .

His outstanding performances then took him to Rome , where he 1986-1988 biblical theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas studied and the Licentiate ( MA graduated). This was followed by a further study of oriental church law at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. In 1990 he received his licentiate (MA) in canon law.

During the semester break, Yebio worked as an assistant pastor in Long Island , at the same time he worked on translations of the missal , the New Testament and liturgical prayers into the Blin language . He is fluent in Blin, Tigrinya , Amharic , English and Italian . In 1991 Yebio returned to Eritrea and pastor a church in Haddish Addi . In 1992 he became director of the seminary in Asmara and at the same time taught biblical studies and canon law at the Asmara Theological Institute . From 1993 to 1995 he was vicar general for the western areas of the Eparchy Keren , since 1993 he has also headed the parishes of Shinnara, Jengeren, Halhal and Afabet.

In 1996 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Keren and on January 4, 2003 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Kenen.
