Kim Kuk-young (born April 19, 1991 in Anyang ) is a South Korean sprinter .

Athletic career

Kim Kuk-young gained his first international experience at the 2009 Asian Championships in Guangzhou , where he was eliminated in the first round of the 100-meter run and sixth in the South Korean 4-by-100-meter relay in 39.86 s occupied. He then took part in the East Asian Games in Hong Kong and was eliminated there in the preliminary stages. The following year he took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters. In November he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Games in Guangzhou and was disqualified with the relay in the preliminary run. In 2011, he also reached the semi-finals at the Asian Championships and finished sixth again with the relay. He was then disqualified in the preliminary stages in the individual competition and with the relay at the World Championships in Daegu . Even two years later, he did not make it into the final at the Asian Championships in Pune and this time came fourth in the relay. At the World Championships in Moscow , he retired with the relay in 39.00 s in the preliminary round.

In 2014 he again took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , where he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters and was disqualified in the final with the relay. In 2015 he made it to the semi-finals again at the Asian Championships in Wuhan and was eliminated from the relay in the preliminary stages. He then took part in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju for the first time and was sixth over 100 meters in 10.31 s and was eliminated over 200 meters and with the relay in the first round. Over 100 meters he qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 10.48 s in the run . In 2016 he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for South Korea , but also failed there with 10.37 s in the first round . The following year he reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 10.40 s.

In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the third time, finishing eighth in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200-meter run in 20.59 s . In addition, he finished fifth with the South Korean season. The following year he reached sixth place over 100 meters at the Asian Championships in Doha in 26.22 s. In addition, he qualified with the relay for the finale, in which it no longer started. At the end of September he took part over 100 meters in the World Championships , which also took place in Doha, and was eliminated there with 10.32 seconds in the lead . Then he reached the final at the World Military Games in Wuhan , but did not start there.

In 2011 Kim was South Korean champion in the 100 and 200 meters and with the 4 x 100 meter relay. From 2014 to 2017 and 2019 again over 100 meters. He graduated from Chosun University in Gwangju with a degree in physical education .
