Kim Myong-chol (born February 2, 1988 ) is a North Korean ice hockey player .

Career

Kim Myong-chol appeared for the North Korean national team for the first time at the 2009 World Cup in Division II, when the team had to accept relegation without winning a point. In the following year he played in Division III and rose with the team immediately. Since the North Koreans did not participate in the World Cup the following year for financial reasons, he also played in the lowest division in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 . In all three tournaments, the North Koreans only missed promotion to Division II by one place in second (2012 behind Turkey , 2013 behind South Africa and 2014 behind Bulgaria ). In 2015 he played with the East Asians again in the lowest division of the World Championships. This time he returned to Division II with a 4-3 win after extra time in the decisive game against hosts Turkey . There he played at the World Championships in 2016 and 2017 .

At club level, Kim plays for Pyongchol in the North Korean ice hockey league and was North Korean champion with the club in 2010, 2011 and 2014.
