Kim Won-jun (born May 4, 1991 in Seoul ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2014 .

Career

Kim Won-jun began his career as a hockey player on the Kwangwoon Junior High School team . At the age of 15 he moved to Finland, where he played for four years in the various youth teams at Tampereen Ilves and then for one year in the U20 at Jokerit . In 2011 he returned to South Korea and spent two years on the ice for the Yonsei University team . He then played another season in Finland, this time at Kiekko-Vantaa in the Mestis , the second highest division in the country. Since 2014 he has been playing for Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey . With his team, he won the main round of the Asia League in 2015. The playoff final was then however smoothly lost with three defeats against the Tōhoku Free Blades from Japan. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 he won the Asia League with his team.

International

Kim Won-jun already took part in the 2011 U20 World Cup for South Korea in Division II. However, he made his debut in the men's selection of the East Asian country at the 2015 World Cup , when, as the top scorer among the defensive players, he made a significant contribution to the promotion of his team from the B to the A group of Division I. In the A group he then played at the World Championships in 2016 and 2017 , when he was promoted to the top division for the first time. There he played at the 2018 World Cup .

At the Winter Asian Games 2017 he finished second with the South Koreans behind Kazakhstan . He also represented his colors at the 2018 Winter Olympics in his own country.
