The Kirchbergbach is a creek less than a kilometer long on the border between the Oberspeltach and Gründelhardt subdistricts of the Frankenhardt community in the Schwäbisch Hall district in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the upper Speltach from the right and west-southwest between Oberspeltach and Fichtenhaus .

geography

course

The Kirchbergbach runs in the middle of a flat, natural valley basin that extends moderately to the floodplain of the Speltach in a ditch next to a farm road that was paved in the 20th century. It usually rises at about 442  m above sea level. NHN am Kirchberg about a quarter of a kilometer east of the K 2639 Oberspeltach– Banzenweiler, which crosses this small plateau, on this road at about 448  m above sea level. A ditch that starts above sea level and rarely leads to water. After less than a hundred meters and then again after a good third of its way, it passes a small group of trees on the other side of the road, otherwise the course is tree-free and bushy. At first, fields border the path and ditch, soon there are meadows, above which on the right slope of a plot of land on the Betzenbuck that is sometimes grazed with sheep, some tall oaks stand on part of the site with a dense field hedge.

After entering the Speltachaue, the accompanying path turns less than a hundred meters to the southeast from the run, which itself bends to the northeast and then to about 418  m above sea level. NHN between Oberspeltach and Fichtenhaus , both of which are on the other side of the small river, from the right and west-southwest into the upper Speltach . A stone's throw further up the Breitbach flows from opposite.

The Kirchbergbach has no tributaries. After a 0.8 km long path with an average bed gradient of about 29 ‰, it flows about 24 meters below its normal origin.

Catchment area

The Kirchbergbach drains a catchment area of around 0.3 km², which , in terms of natural space , belongs to the sub-area Burgberg-Vorhöhen and Speltachbucht of the Schwäbisch-Fränkischeb Waldberge . It lies entirely in an open corridor, which is under the plow in the west and grassland in the east. In the eastern part, apart from the groups of trees mentioned, there are remains of orchards in a few places on the slope.

Geologically, the area lies in the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ). Nowhere a height of even 452  m above sea level. The plateau reaching the NHN , which encompasses the westernmost catchment area and extends eastward like a bracket around the valley basin on both sides of the spurs, is very flat due to the thin, but erosion-resistant Corbula layer lying in its subsoil. In the floodplain of the Speltach, the Kirchbergbach then crosses the floodplain loam that accompanies it.

The path that accompanies it and then the stream itself near the mouth of the river is followed by the boundary between the districts of Oberspeltach (left) and Gründelhardt (right) of the Frankenhardt community , to which the catchment area is divided roughly in half. It is not populated anywhere.
