The church stands east of this intersection on a slightly elevated piece of land, which is enclosed with a wall made of unhewn and non-layered field stones .

history

The building was built in the second half of the 13th century when craftsmen built a nave and a church tower from field stones and connected them with a pointed arch. At a later date this arch was walled up. In 1913 the interior was restored, during which experts uncovered medieval wall paintings. In 1978 craftsmen renewed the tower top.

Building description

East view

The church was essentially built from field stones, which were carefully hewn and layered. The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the east side is a group of three windows that could come from the construction period. The middle window is slightly raised and its keystone protrudes into the plastered gable . In the middle there is an ogival panel into which a small, pressed-segment-arched window is let. A sacristy adjoins the choir to the north , which was optically integrated into the rest of the building with a tented roof . On the east side there is a small window in the lower area, and a small, rectangular gate in the plastered gable. The brickwork between these two openings is rather irregular and could therefore come from a later period. The north side is windowless, on the west side there is also only a small window. Above it is the same irregular masonry finish. In some cases, repair work was carried out with reddish brick.

This is followed by the nave . It has a rectangular floor plan and two pointed arched windows on its north side. To the west of it is a closed gate. On the south side there are three more pointed arched windows as well as a pointed arched gate between the middle and the east window. It could also come from the construction time.

The massive west tower connects to the west . It has no windows on the north and south sides, while in the west a large, pointed arched portal with three steps provides access to the building. The stones are also carefully carved here. The west gable is plastered flat and decorated with a large cross. The boarded spire with a small sound arcade on the west side and three much larger sound arcades on the other sides rises from the simple saddle roof . Above is a simple pyramid roof that ends with a weather vane .

Furnishing

The baroque altarpiece consists of a simple column structure with a carved crucifix and two paintings showing the Lord's Supper and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ . It was built at the beginning of the 18th century and was restored in 2006. This includes a pulpit with a pulpit from around 1600, which was worked in the forms of the late Renaissance and was set up between two arcades. The basket is decorated with images of the apostles . Above is a sound cover from 1823.

The gallery for the organ was built in the 17th century. Other church furnishings include medieval wall paintings from the 14th / 15th centuries. Century, which were uncovered by Gustav Hoffmann in 1913 and restored in 1978. They show the Last Judgment and other apostles on the north side . Opposite them is the crucifixion of Jesus , the adoration of the kings and four female saints. In the east, two angels with a host and Christophorus can be seen.
