geography

Dargitz is 4 kilometers north of the city of Pasewalk , 40 kilometers southeast of Anklam and 23 kilometers south of Ueckermünde . Dargitz and the community lie on a plateau with elevations over 50 m. Towards the Uecker , however, the terrain drops down to a few meters. The area is criss-crossed by several embankment-like Osers from the last Ice Age.

history

The early settlement is proven by an imperial (0 to 400) burial place with 3 archaeologically examined graves, one of them an equestrian grave, and the nearby Slavic castle wall of Stolzenburg archaeologically with many finds. They are registered as a ground monument of regional importance and the castle wall is still partially preserved in its shape. The cemetery does not belong to the district, but is very close to Dargitz.

In contrast, Dargitz was not listed in the Pomeranian documents until the mid-15th century. During this time, a von Dargitz family was named as the eponymous owner. The Swedish register cards from 1696 show the place with a double row of 18 buildings from south to north. In 1803 12 full farmers were registered with a long lease, which was transferred to property in 1836. In 1835, according to the Prussian original table sheet, the double row of farmsteads along the local road is shown. The church is to the south and the post mill to the north.

The following statistics are listed in 1862:

  • Buildings: one church, preacher house, school, court house; 2 shepherds' houses, 35 residential and 56 farm buildings
  • Commercial property: 12 full farmers, 1 Krughof, 1 blacksmith, 1 church colonus, 11 Büdner positions
  • Population: 337 in 67 families

In 1871 Dargitz had 39 houses with 73 households and 331 inhabitants, in 1867 there were 351. All were members of the Protestant denomination. The measuring table from 1880 shows a compact village with the farms and the associated farm workers' cottages. Since 1884 the Neubrandenburg – Stettin railway line passed south of the village , but had no stopping point, but a railway attendant. The list of goods from 1905 registered 47 residential buildings with 69 households and 313 inhabitants. According to the measurement table, there were no changes until 1920. The structure was also retained during the GDR era. After 1960 all farmers were certainly in an LPG, but no agricultural facility was built in the village.

The core area of the district was identical to the district of Ueckermünde , which had existed since 1818, was expanded in 1939 by 32 communities from the former district of Randow and was separated in 1945 by the Oder-Neisse line . The Western Pomerania district was spun off from the Pasewalk district created two years earlier on July 25, 1952 , and after the dissolution of the states it belonged to the newly formed district of Neubrandenburg . On June 12, 1994 the district (again referred to as the district since May 17, 1990) was dissolved. From then until the district reform in 2011 , the area formed the district of Uecker-Randow together with parts of the districts of Pasewalk and Strasburg, which were also dissolved .
