Diedorf Church

The church Diedorf stands on a hill at Kirchberg 17 von Diedorf , a district of the community Dermbach in the Wartburg district in Thuringia . The parish Diedorf belongs to the parish area Kaltennordheim in the parish of Bad Salzungen-Dermbach in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Building history

There is no definite date for the foundation of the church, but the patronage of Saint Anthony the Great points to an origin in the plague years of the 14th century . The medieval church burned down during a pillage in the Thirty Years War in 1634. The successor building was destroyed in a fire in 1783 . The current church was rebuilt in 1785. It was last restored in 1987/88 .

Exterior construction

The brightly plastered hall church , covered with a gable roof , has corner stones set off in red . The north-facing facade with the portal is subdivided as a show front by pilaster strips and closed by a gable with volutes . The year of construction 1785 can be found in the keystone of the portal. The roof tower has a slate floor with sound arcades . The belfry is hidden behind it . A French hood rises above it .

Furnishing

The interior is made in the typical Protestant baroque style. The simple hall is closed at the top by a wooden barrel vault with painted coffering . There are double galleries on the side walls and triple galleries on the entrance side . The pulpit altar with the lateral statues of saints Peter and John is with the entire Kanzelwand 1785 in rich ornaments of the Rococo created. It is surmounted by a through Landsknechte extended Kreuzigungsgruppe . The ambo is also decorated with rich Rococo ornaments. The chalice-shaped baptismal font with a coat of arms was built in 1605. It was transferred here from Kaltensundheim in 1970.

The five-part organ was built in 2003/2004 by Orgelbau Waltershausen . It has 17 registers , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal .
