The core of the hall church is of Romanesque origin. It has a recessed, square choir tower and an apse with a dome . The exterior of the church is characterized by various modifications. The top floor of the tower is octagonal. The curved, slate-covered hood was erected on top of it in 1822 and 1853/54 . There are late Gothic windows on the south side of the choir . The nave is covered with a gable roof.

The nave has three-sided galleries . The figurative and ornamental painting of the nave was carried out in 1853/54. Most of the church furnishings date from the 18th century. Behind a modern block altar are parts of a pulpit altar from 1778. On the north side of the choir there are shrines of two small, late Gothic winged altars . Both are decorated with ornaments . One, from a Thuringian workshop, shows a Madonna in a halo , Saint Mauritius and a holy bishop, the other, made in Franconia, shows the Evangelist Johannes , Saint Barbara and Saint Wolfgang . There are also full-length portraits of pastors made in 1692 and 1740.

The organ with 14 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1786 by Christian Friedrich Poppe .

The church was renovated in 1853/54 and 1978–86.
