The Church of Our Lady , also known as St. Mary's Church , is a Protestant church in the village of Wedringen in Saxony-Anhalt, which belongs to the town of Haldensleben .

Architecture and history

The church was essentially built in the first half of the 13th century and was built from rubble stones . The western part of the nave is somewhat older. To the west of the ship is the church tower across the ship. Walled up arched windows can be seen in the south and north walls of the nave . There are three pointed windows on the east wall of the nave, with the middle one being built in by the addition of a sacristy in 1751 during the Baroque period . In 1751 there were various other modifications. Before the south side was already in the period of Gothic a porch built. On or in front of the southern outer wall of the ship is a tombstone with an inscription and a stone sarcophagus. Both date from the 18th century. The church is located in a park-like, enclosed churchyard. To the south of the church is a war memorial for those who fell in the First World War .

A restoration of the church took place in 1931.

The interior of the nave is spanned by a flat ceiling. In the church there is a horseshoe gallery built in the 19th century . The wooden pulpit basket probably dates from 1769 and is one of incurred in the first half of the 19th century, designed as a crown sounding board crowned. The eastern wall is designed as an altar wall in the Baroque style and has side passages. The baptismal font in neo-Gothic style has the shape of a hexagonal chalice. It was created in 1890 and bears an inscription referring to the founder . The organ is more recent . It was created in 1932 by Gebr. Rohlfing from Osnabrück .

The bronze bells from around 1200 and 1522 are remarkable . It is believed that the latter was created by Claus Backmester . On the western wall of the nave is a tombstone of Johann Andreas Oetting, who died in 1752 .

Rectory

Today's rectory was built in 1903. The large brick building with the symmetrical design of the facade emphasized by the central projectile and triangular gable is also a listed building .
