Kirill Olegowitsch Starkow ( Russian Кирилл Олегович Старков ; born March 31, 1987 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian - Danish ice hockey player who has been under contract with IK Oskarshamn in HockeyAllsvenskan since 2012 . His father Oleg was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Kirill Starkow moved with his family to Denmark in the early 1990s, where his father played ice hockey professionally and grew up in Esbjerg. He also began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the local ice hockey club EfB Ishockey . In the 2002/03 season, the winger made his debut for the professional team of EfB in the AL-Bank Ligaen , whereupon he was named Rookie of the Year . He then moved to the youth department of Frölunda HC from Sweden. With his professional team he was runner- up in the 2005/06 season. The 2006/07 season he spent with the Red Deer Rebels in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . In the following years he stayed in North America and played for the Youngstown Steelhounds from the Central Hockey League , the Elmira Jackals from the ECHL and the Syracuse Crunch from the American Hockey League .

In the middle of the 2008/09 season Starkow was committed by HK CSKA Moscow from the newly founded Continental Hockey League . By the end of the season he had scored two goals and two assists in a total of 24 games for the Russian capital club. For the 2009/10 season he joined the Elitserien participant Timrå IK , in which he had a regular place, but could not fully convince due to his point yield. Therefore, he returned to EfB Ishockey in the AL-Bank Ligaen for the 2010/11 season and became its team captain. For the 2011/12 season he joined Rögle BK from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. For the team he scored 15 points in 39 games before he returned to Denmark towards the end of the season and got a contract with SønderjyskE Ishockey . In the summer of 2012 he was signed by the Swedish second division club IK Oskarshamn .

International

For Denmark , Starkow took part in the A World Championships in 2007 , 2011 and 2012 .
