Klaus Draeger

Klaus Draeger (born September 3, 1956 in Konstanz ) is a German engineer and manager . Most recently, until 2016, he was a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for purchasing and the supplier network.

education

Draeger graduated from the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Gymnasium Konstanz in 1975 and then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) from 1975 to 1981 . From 1982 to 1985 he was a research associate at the University of Karlsruhe, where in 1985 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD .

Career

He joined BMW AG as a trainee on September 1, 1985 and later held various management positions. From 1991 to 1993 he was Head of Purchasing Engineering for Powertrain , Chassis and Motorsport, then Head of Purchasing Special Models , Technical Purchasing (BMW South Africa), Purchasing Body Interior , Body Development and, from 2004 to 2006, Head of Large Model Series . On November 1, 2006, Draeger was promoted to the company's executive board, succeeding Burkhard Göschel as head of research, development and purchasing . Since the expansion of the board to include purchasing and the supplier network in 2007, Draeger was board member responsible for development . With effect from April 1, 2012, he was responsible for purchasing and the supplier network . From 2014 to 2016 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation of BMW AG. Draeger retired on September 30, 2016. Draeger's successor was Markus Duesmann , who had been with BMW since 2007.
