Klaus Hein Fischer (born October 4, 1937 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 10, 2001 in Munich ) was a German draftsman , illustrator and animator. With his famous illustrations he created the unmistakable character of the ZDF series Löwenzahn with Peter Lustig .

Klaus Fischer died unexpectedly at the age of 64.

Life

After training as a lithographer, he soon followed in the famous footsteps of his father Cefischer . Logically, a study of free graphics and illustration at the Werkkunstschule Offenbach followed. Klaus Fischer got a taste of the theater, first as a set design assistant at the municipal theaters in Frankfurt am Main and then as a set and costume designer at the Staatstheater Kassel, the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the municipal theaters in Cologne. In 1979, ZDF editor Gabriele Röthemeyer brought him to Löwenzahn .

In addition to numerous scripts for the children's series Löwenzahn , he wrote many picture stories, which, like the trick parts, he mostly realized in his own studio.

The opening credits of the series, as well as the construction trailer, which were used in the years 1981-2005, came from him. He also accompanied 19 issues of the Löwenzahn magazine (published then by Egmont Ehapa Verlag , today by Blue Ocean Entertainment ), in which he not only contributed his illustrations, but was also involved in the layout, and the magazine “had a very special charm thanks to its wit gave".

Also from 1981 the “ NDR balloon” moved through the picture in the break films of the third television program . Acoustic guitar music could be heard over the northern German cities and landscapes (e.g. Lübeck, Hamburger Hafen, Celle, Sylt or Göttingen) sketched in great detail by Klaus Fischer (and peppered with lots of local “insider” jokes). The instrumental ( Das Loch in der Banana by Klaus Weiland ) was later replaced by other titles, often of maritime origin. In the beginning there were three North German figures in the NDR balloon, later the NDR walrus " Antje " also flew with it. In some of the break films, the balloon was later replaced by an airplane or ship, each time with NDR lettering.

In 1987 Klaus Fischer illustrated the film adaptation of Theodor Storm 's children's book Der kleine Häwelmann for Westdeutscher Rundfunk . In addition to the graphic implementation, he took over the camera, editing and direction. The 7-minute film was first broadcast on December 1, 1987 in the show with the mouse .

Model trick

Klaus Fischer's specialty was the model trick that he developed in his work as a set designer. The figures and decorative parts are cut out of cardboard, painted and placed one behind the other like in a baroque theater . A camera movement creates a spatial impression, there is depth. This makes the picture story appear more alive.
