Klaus Peter Schick

Klaus Peter Schick (born January 28, 1955 in Langenfeld ) is a German diplomat who was ambassador to Eritrea from 2008 to 2012 and ambassador to Haiti from 2012 to 2016 . He has been ambassador to the Republic of the Congo since 2016 .

biography

After graduating from high school in 1973 in Opladen and completing basic military service in the Bundeswehr , he initially studied Romance languages and history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn between 1975 and 1976 , but dropped out of this course.

He then joined the senior foreign service in 1976 . After completing his preparatory service in 1979, he was employed at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn and then from 1980 to 1984 at the Consulate General in Marseille . This was followed by assignments at the embassy in Trinidad and Tobago and from 1989 to 1992 at the consulate general in Calcutta .

In 1992 he began his preparatory service for the higher foreign service and, after completing his training as an attaché, was first employed at the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Ministry and then between 1997 and 2002 at the embassy in Thailand . Subsequently, he was initially for a short time ad interim chargé d' affaires at the embassy in Haiti and then from 2003 to 2004 permanent representative of the ambassador to the Ivory Coast . After his return to Germany, he was head of a work unit in the Foreign Office between 2004 and 2008.

Since August 14, 2008, Klaus Peter Schick was Alexander Beckmann's successor as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Eritrea, where he was replaced by Viktor Richter in July 2012 .

He himself succeeded Jens-Peter Voss as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Haiti in July 2012 . Manfred Auster became his successor in summer 2016 , while Schick took over the office of German ambassador to the Republic of the Congo from Thomas Strieder .
