Klaus Richter (born October 24, 1923 in Schierokau , Upper Silesia ; † January 12, 2011 ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1942, Richter was drafted into the Wehrmacht and then took part in the Second World War as a soldier until 1945 . In 1946 he entered the Baden-Württemberg school service and completed a degree in history and geography, which he completed with the specialist group examination for secondary school teachers. He then worked as a middle school teacher in Wertheim . He also held a teaching position at a Bundeswehr technical college .

Richter was parliamentary secretary of the parliamentary group in the German Council of the European Movement from 1973 to 1977 and head of the liaison office of the DGB federal executive committee in Bonn from 1977 to 1988 .

Political party

Richter was a member of the SPD. He was chairman of the SPD sub-district Heidelberg and the SPD district association Tauberbischofsheim .

MP

Richter was elected to the council of the city ​​of Wertheim . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1976. He was always drawn into parliament via the Baden-Württemberg state list. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe , where he has been chairman of the Socialist Group since 1973.

Honors

In 1987 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with a Star .
