Kleeburg (Boppard)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kleeburg was a castle on the Rhine near the Weiler district in Boppard . It only got its current name with a description of the Boppard office published in 1784, previously it was known as "Wilre", which also gave the neighboring town its name.

The castle was probably ancestral seat of the noble family "von Wilre", which was first mentioned in 1315 with Johann von Wilre. The complex itself was mentioned for the last time in 1614. Today she has completely disappeared.
