Schwedenschanze

The Schwedenschanze in Dörscheid in the Middle Rhine Valley is a Sternschanze , which was possibly created when the Landgrave of Hesse besieged the Palatinate Kaub in 1631/32 as part of the Thirty Years' War .

The ski jump is 750 meters west of Dörscheid on a hill. Today it is no longer recognizable as a Sternschanze, as it is very sloppy overall. Only at the southwest tip is the wall up to two meters high. There was once a ditch about five meters wide, which is no longer visible today.

Monument protection

The area of the ski jump is a ground monument according to the Rhineland-Palatinate Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, random finds must be reported to the monument authorities.
