The Bullenberger Bach , in the headwaters and upper reaches also Klein Briesener Bach , is a river rich in meanders that rises in the northern High Fläming and drains to the Temnitz .

course

The largely natural Fläming River rises as Klein Briesener Bach about two kilometers southwest of the Bad Belzig village of Klein Briesen on the southern slope of the 103.5 meter high Briesener Mountains. First running in an easterly direction, it passes Klein Briesen. Four kilometers east of Klein Briesen, the stream reaches the Bullenberg residential area belonging to the Ragösen district . From Bullenberg onwards it is called the Bullenberger Bach. Between Klein Briesen and Bullenberg this takes on its only tributary, the Polsbach. Behind the hamlet of Bullenberg the river swings sharply to the north, and after further running through the Golzower Bruch it flows into the Temnitz after a total of 9.5 kilometers west of Golzow.

Protected areas

The Bullenberger Bach flows through several, partly overlapping protected areas. So it is for example up behind Bull Mountain in the High Fläming Nature Park and conservation area High Fläming - Belziger Landschaftswiesen . The upper reaches of the hamlet of Bullenberg are particularly protected as the Bullenberger Bach / Klein Briesener Bach nature reserve . In addition, the river lies in the two FFH areas Bullenberger Bach and Plane Supplement. The estuary is a protected part of the landscape called Golzower Bruch. In addition, there are several protected biotopes throughout the course .

Nature reserve

The Bullenberger Bach / Klein Briesener Bach nature reserve was designated in 2003. It includes the entire upper course of the water including its tributary Polsbach. Alder forests dominate the nature reserve along the Bullenberger Bach . There are various protected bat species , the kingfisher , the black stork , the middle woodpecker , the moor frog , the noble crab and the two-striped spring damsel . The reserve has a size of 298 hectares.
