Kleinbaumgarten is a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Gaubitsch in the political district of Mistelbach in Lower Austria .

location

The street village is located in the northeastern Weinviertel on the southern edge of the Laa basin. The area is flat towards the north, and rolling hills in the south. It is located 1.5 km north of Gaubitsch and is structurally connected to it. The next larger city is Laa an der Thaya, 6 km to the north . The Kleinbaumgarther Graben, a source brook of the Thayamühlbach , flows through the place.

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1260, at that time it belonged to the rule Hagenberg. In 1414 it was bought by the Lichtensteiners and run under the name Pawngarten , in 1650 it came to the Unterstinkenbrunn rule.

In the 19th century, three cholera epidemics claimed many victims. In the First World War 6 residents died or were missing, in the Second there were 23. At the end of the Second World War from April 20 to May 8, 1945 the front ran between Kleinbaumgarten and Gaubitsch. Gunfire killed two people and destroyed six buildings.

The Landesstraße 20 touches the place in the north, the L 3076 coming from the south (Gaubitsch) bypasses it to the east and joins the L 20. This crosses the Laaer Straße (B6) 2 km west in Unterstinkenbrunn .
