The small-leaved goosefoot ( Chenopodium striatiforme ), also called small-leaf goosefoot , false striped goosefoot or critical striped goosefoot , is a plant species in the foxtail family (Amaranthaceae) that occurs in Central Europe .

description

Vegetative characteristics

The small-leaved goosefoot is an annual herbaceous plant . It resembles the striped goosefoot ( Chenopodium strictum ), but is more delicate and already has arching branches at the base of the stem . The alternate leaves are usually small, their leaf blade is deltoid-ovate. The leaf margin is sharp and finely serrated. The upper leaves are oval-lanceolate and have entire margins.

Chromosome number

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.

Occurrence and endangerment

The small-leaved goosefoot is common in southern and southeastern Europe and is also found in Asia and North America . Introduced with the grain, it is only in the 19th century as a neophyte to Central Europe penetrated. It inhabits warm, dry, sandy coastlines or ruderal sites , for example on walls or on special industrial locations . In the system of plant sociology , it is a character species of the Bromo-Corispermetum ( Salsolion salt herb corridors).

In Germany , the small-leaved goose foot is an unstable neophyte that occurs quite rarely in the northern Upper Rhine Plain near Frankfurt , in Main Franconia and in western Saxony . Its populations are not endangered nationwide, but in Baden-Württemberg it is considered endangered ( Red List of Endangered Species 3).

Systematics

The small-leaved goosefoot belongs to the Chenopodium strictum aggregate within the genus of the goosefoot . Some authors only consider it a subspecies of Chenopodium strictum . Occasionally it is also assigned to a very broad Chenopodium album aggregate.

The first publication of Chenopodium striatiforme was made in 1901 by Josef Murr in Botanical German monthly magazine 19, p. 50

Synonyms of Chenopodium striatiforme Murr are Chenopodium album var. Striatiforme (Murr) Murr , Chenopodium concatenatum subsp. striatiform Murr , Chenopodium strictum subsp. striatiforme (Murr) Uotila and Chenopodium album subsp. microphyllum (Boenn.) Sterner and Chenopodium strictum subsp. microphyllum (Boenn.) PM Jørg. (nom. illeg.)
