The Kleinkehbach flows in the suburb of the eponymous main town of Murrhardt in the Rems-Murr district in northern Baden-Württemberg and flows into the upper Murr from the left in the town itself after a less than 2 km long, approximately north-northeast run . His Forest blade is Franz blade called.

geography

course

The Kleinkehbach arises about 0.7 km southeast of the Murrhardt hamlet of Schwammhof at about 491  m above sea level. NN a little north of a threshold that runs from the Hoblersberg (up to 539.2  m above sea level outside the catchment area) falling northeast in the direction of the Rißberg in a larger wooded area that covers the heights. The origin is about 200 meters west of an accommodation hut on the Blaupunktweg from Vorderwestermurr to Murrhardt. From there, the brook runs for the first 300 meters in a not very deep gully northwest to a gravel forest path that leads from the Schwammhof in the west to state road 1119 Vorderwestmurr-Murrhardt in the east. On this it swings to the north-northeast course, which it now maintains quite precisely up to the mouth.

Here the Blaustrichweg from Sechselberg over the Hoblersberg to Murrhardt comes close to his side, which follows him to the mouth, and its railing quickly deepens. About 300 meters further on, from the right , another, very steep blade crack of 200 to 300 meters in length, where the hiking trail descends from the right slope to the valley floor, runs into the valley cut called Franzenklinge , which has now become a blade . Even on the following 500–600 meters, sloping gullies run from the right, however, more often less deeply buried, until the Kleinkehbach finally leaves the forest. In the meanwhile more leisurely gradient it runs between loosely tree-lined properties next to a farm road to the southern edge of the settlement of Murrhardt, then in Murrhardt next to Franzenklingenweg until shortly before Murrhardter Gartenstraße. It joins there opposite the rear of the building at Gartenstrasse 43 from the right and below 300  m above sea level. NN into the recognizable larger Großkehbach , also just called Kehbach , which itself flows half a kilometer further down into the Murr .

The mouth of the 1.7 km with a mean bed gradient of over 110 ‰ flowing Kleinkehbach is more than 189 meters below its source, which is why it flows more steeply downhill than the upper reaches of its receiving waters to the confluence, which up to there only approaches with a little over 81 ‰ Tale is running.

Catchment area

The Kleinkehbach has a catchment area of about 1.0 km², which is mainly in the sub-area Murrhardter Wald of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains natural area and with its northernmost portion from about the forest outlet in the sub-area Murrtal . The whole area is part of the suburb of the central city of Murrhardt . Its highest point is on its south-southwest corner near the summit of the Hoblersberg at a little over 534  m above sea level. NN south of the Schrammhof. From here on, the catchment area of its receiving water Großkehbach borders on the left, west-north- western watershed over the spur of the Schwammberg . The right, south-east and east borders the catchment area of the upper Murr, then that of the shorter stream through the Hozenklinge , which flows into the Murr above the Großkehbach.

The whole area is part of the suburb of the central city of Murrhardt . Apart from the city of Murrhardt, in which it flows, there is no other settlement area in the catchment area.

geology

In the catchment area of the Großkehbach there are rocks from the Mittelkeuper everywhere . The majority of the plateaus including the heights ( Hoblersberg here up to about 534  m above sea level with threshold to the Rissberg) lie in the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein formation ). In the Franzenklingen incision and on the steep slopes into the Murrtal, the Mittelkeuper layers follow very quickly underneath to the Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ), in which the stream also flows.

The Franzenklinge is a geotope, in it there are outcrops from the silica sandstone downwards.

Nature and protected areas

In terms of landscape, four different parts of the catchment area can be distinguished. The headwaters and the spur of the Rißberg towards the Murrtal are completely forested. In the clearing island around the Schwemmhof, which is already outside, on the left of the upper course, fields and meadows cover the open corridor. Below that, the steep edge of the stream begins, in which there is a steep hillside forest, as well as the spur slopes of the Schrammberg on the left and the Riesberg on the right towards the Murrtal. Even further down, the slope ends in a thin, tree-lined open field and merges into the Murrhardt settlement area a little before the confluence.

The entire catchment area is part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park , the southern parts (forest slopes south of Schwammhof) and part of the upper Riesberg-Sporn belong to the Murrhardter Wald nature reserve . Natural monument is part of the Franzensklinge valley floor, which is also a geotope.
