Kleinzwettl is a place in the homonymous cadastral community of Gastern in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in Lower Austria .
geography
Kleinzwettl is located in the northern Waldviertel at an altitude of approx. 539 meters. The name is derived from the fact that the place arose from a settlement of colonies of the Zwettl monastery .
Kleinzwettl has 122 inhabitants (as of 2001, source: Statistics Austria).
history
The place was created in the 12th century by the settlement of Zwettl Abbey and was originally called "Münichreith". In the 13th century it was mentioned in a document as "Zwetlarn", and since 1780 the village has been called Kleinzwettl.
