Kliton Bozgo (born December 5, 1971 in Gjirokastra ) is a former Albanian football player . The striker had his most successful time in Slovenia, where he was twice top scorer in the Slovenska Nogometna Liga and was involved in two championship and cup wins.

Career

Bozgo started his career in his home country with FK Tomori Berat . As a junior player he moved up to the men's team of the club and was the top scorer of the Albanian championship in 1990/91 with 29 goals this season, before moving to Yugoslavia in 1992 to NK Dubrava Zagreb .

In 1993 Bozgo joined the NK Maribor in the Slovenska Nogometna League. While he finished third in the championship with the club, he moved into the cup final with the team. There he contributed with a goal to the 3-1 return win against Mura Murska Sobota , which meant winning the title due to a 0-1 first leg defeat. Also in the following year he appeared as a successful striker, so that on the one hand he was runner-up with the club and on the other hand was poached by the master NK Olimpija Ljubljana . At the side of Ermin Šiljak he reached his second cup final in Slovenia, against NK Primorje with a 1-0 away win and a 1-1 draw, winning the trophy again.

Until 1998 Bozgo ran for the NK Olimpija, another title win was denied him. Then he moved within Slovenia again to the reigning champions, this was his former club NK Maribor. With 15 goals this season he helped the club to successfully defend its title in the championship and thus placed in the list of goalscorers in second place behind Novica Nikčevič from ND Gorica , who scored 17 goals during the season. Also in the following season he was an accurate striker on the side of Dejan Djuranovic , Simon Sešlar , Marinko Galič and Amir Karič . With 24 goals he was crowned top scorer in front of Oskar Drobne and Uroš Barut on the one hand, and on the other hand he was instrumental in winning the national championship again.

The success made Bozgo known beyond the national borders and the Austrian club VfB Admira Wacker Mödling secured the services of the Albanian striker in the summer of 2000. At the side of George Datoru , Markus Katzer he played for the club in the Bundesliga against relegation. In the 2001/02 season he scored ten goals this season for the team trained by Walter Knaller , but they still finished last in the table. Relegation was only possible due to developments away from the sports field, as FC Tirol Innsbruck had to file for bankruptcy as champions and was therefore excluded from the league. In the two following seasons, the team, reinforced by players like Tomasz Iwan , Adam Ledwoń or Sebastian Olszar , reached places in the middle division, but Bozgo missed his goal danger.

In summer 2004, Bozgo returned to Slovenia and signed a third contract with NK Maribor. Although he hit the goal again regularly and at the end of regular time was tied with Saša Ranic at the top of the scorers list with eleven goals this season , but as seventh in the table he missed the championship round and with the club due to the poorer direct comparison with the same point competitor NK Drava Ptuj had to compete in the relegation round. With seven goals in the ten games of the relegation round, he was crowned Slovenia's top scorer for a second time with a total of 18 goals.

Nevertheless, Bozgo left the club again after a season and accepted an offer from NK Drava Ptuj. At his new club, however, he only stayed a half series and then returned to Austria. His engagements at TSV Hartberg and SK Sankt Andrä were also short-lived. In the 2007/08 season he let his career end with Mura Murska Sobota in the Slovenian second division.
