The Klufterbach is a brook in the Friesdorf district of Bonn . Its total length is 3.4 kilometers, its catchment area is 0.9 square kilometers.

course

Like all streams on the eastern slope of the southern Ville, the Klufterbach drains the main terrace there , which consists mainly of Rhine gravel and is covered with a soil layer of Kottenforst loam, which is known as regional . On the Kottenforst plateau, the stream runs in a trench, heading north, until it bends east on Schmalen Allee. The trenches were created to drain the formerly swampy subsoil and now only carry water seasonally after major rainfall events. The official source refers to one such event when the body of water reaches its maximum length. Approx. 80 m after crossing the Röttgener Weg , the Klufterbachtal begins, caused by deep erosion . In this area, too, the Klufterbach usually falls dry in times of average weather conditions. The steady flow of water in the stream under average weather conditions begins within this Kerbtal , about 350 m after crossing the Röttgener Weg via the water outlet through seepage springs below the Rheinhöhenweg . From there, the stream runs east as the valley deepens.

The retention basin at the upper end of Hochkreuzallee

In its further course after crossing the Pionierweg, the brook takes on further seepage springs as well as seasonal water-bearing tributaries.

At the foot of the Kottenforst plateau in Friesdorf, the natural course of the water ends at a scree and flood retention basin . Up to the confluence of Pfarrer-Merck-Straße with Hochkreuzallee, the brook runs in a renatured brook bed, the bottom of which is lined with plastic. After crossing some residential properties between Hochkreuzallee and In der Kumme , it disappears into the piping. In this it then runs below Hochkreuzallee and Bernkasteler Straße until it flows underground into the Annaberg Bach at the confluence of the Am Schwalbengarten street .

The brook flows through the settlement area piped. Above the scree basin in Hochkreuzallee, it runs close to nature in a deciduous forest. The water quality above the piping is I-II.

particularities

Until 1997 the stream water was discharged into the mixed water sewer system. Part of the water on the Klufterhof grounds flowed through an open channel into the pond there. Due to a planning error, the pond is now fed underground.
