Knut Müller (photographer)
Knut Müller , also Knut Mueller (* 1952 in Halle ), is a German photographer , photo designer and photo journalist . The subject of war has been a central focus of his work since 1989.
Life
Knut Müller is a son of the architect and civil engineer Herbert Müller . From 1970 to 1975 he studied at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle. In 1978 he became a member of the photography department in the Association of Fine Artists of the GDR .
In 1986 his application to leave the country was approved and Müller worked as a freelance photo reporter in Hamburg . In 1988 he co-founded the MAGMA photography group in Hamburg. Since 1989 he has been working as a war photographer in the crisis areas of Albania , Croatia , Bosnia , Iraq , Somalia , Chechnya and Afghanistan . His photos have appeared in Spiegel , Merian , Focus , Geo , Stern , Max , Le Figaro , Sunday Times Magazine and Los Angeles Times , and can be seen at numerous exhibitions.
Müller has lived in Hamburg and Halle (Saale) since 2004. Since 2005 he has been a board member of the Association of Hallescher Künstler.
