history

Settlement of the area around Köchstedt as early as the Neolithic Age is proven by the discovery of a stone box grave, which was converted into a war memorial in 1934 .

The settlement of Köchstedt is said to have been founded as early as the end of the 4th century by fishing and warning . These Germanic tribes were arable farmers who cultivated the dry land that barely existed in the Valley of Dignity . In a register of the tithe of the Hersfeld monastery , which was created between 881 and 899, Köchstedt is mentioned for the first time in a document as the place of Cochstat im Friesenfeld, which is subject to a tenancy fee .

Centuries later, members of a lower nobility family were mentioned as von Kochstede. In 1501 Köchstedt came to the Schraplau sub-office in the Schraplau district of the Mansfeld county . When the county of Mansfeld was divided in 1738/80, Köchstedt and the Schraplau sub-office received the share that the Prussian Duchy of Magdeburg received. Until the end of the Second World War , the place was a Bennstedter Vorwerk and an independent estate.

When during the French occupation (1807 to 1813) Köchstedt was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and assigned to the Halle district in the Saale department, the place belonged to the canton of Schraplau . At that time the Chausseehaus Köchstedt was built.

After Napoleon's defeat and the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia, Napoleon's allied opponents liberated the area in early October 1813. During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Köchstedt was attached to the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and incorporated into the Mansfeld Seekreis .

Köchstedt was assigned to the Saalkreis in the course of the first district reform in the GDR . At the same time, the place came to Langenbogen on July 1, 1950 . On January 1, 1957, he was reclassified to Bennstedt . Another reclassification to the municipality of Teutschenthal took place on November 1, 1993.
