The Kohlengraben is a half a kilometer long orographically right tributary of the Odenbach in the Rhineland-Palatinate districts of Kaiserslausern , Donnersberg and Kusel .
course
The coal ditch rises in the natural area of Moschelhöhen in the North Palatinate mountainous region at an altitude of 282 m above sea level. NHN in a mixed forest between the northwestern foot of the Ölsberg ( 409.5 m ) and the southwest of the Rothenberg ( 441.8 m ). Its source is about three hundred and fifty meters northeast of the Bügenmühlerhof residential area belonging to the local community of Niederkirchen . On the Mount of Olives there is a biotope that extends into the valley of the coal pit upper course . The coal ditch marks the border between the Kaiserslautern district in the south and first the Donnersberg district and then the Kusel district in the north along its entire course up to the mouth.
The stream initially flows in a westerly direction through a narrow notch valley on both sides of wooded mountain slopes. He then leaves the forest and then walks, accompanied by a tree gallery, between the Gänsacker field on the right and the fallow meadow on the valley road through a now noticeably widened valley.
To the north of a small cemetery in Bügenmühlerhof, it turns sharply north-northwest directly east of state road 382 and finally flows out between the mouth of the Farsbach, which is about a hundred meters north- northeast, and the confluence of the Morgraben on the other side of the Odenbach, only about thirty meters away from 240 m directly next to the L 382 from the right into the Odenbach coming from the south .
Data
The coal ditch has a catchment area of 0.44 km² and drains through the Odenbach , Glan , Nahe and Rhine into the North Sea . The difference in height from its source to its mouth is 42 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 72.9 ‰ over a length of 576 m.
nature and environment
The forest-open land complex on the Ölsberg north of Niederkirchen , which is worthy of protection, has the area number BK-6412-0216-2009 and is around 15.6 hectares in size.
In the locally significant natural area, a beech forest grows on the north-western slope of the Mount of Olives with an adjacent rough meadow in the hilltop area. The biotope extends into the Kerbtal of the coal trench and then merges into a small grassland hollow in which there are orchards , as well as a fatty pasture and fallow land .
