Konrad Adolf Hallenstein , also Conrad Hallenstein (born January 15, 1835 in Frankfurt am Main , † September 28, 1892 in Purkersdorf ) was a German actor.

Life

Konrad Adolf Hallenstein was the son of the director and poet Ernst Hallenstein († 1881). He received his acting training in Frankfurt and Hamburg before making his debut at the Stadttheater Frankfurt am Main in 1852 in the role of Raoul in the Maiden of Orleans . Then Hallenstein played in Hamburg in 1856, in Königsberg in 1857 and in Aachen in 1858 . From April 6, 1858 to May 1, 1871 he was a member of the Royal Estates Theater (or Royal State Theater or Royal German State Theater ) in Prague under director Franz Thomé , but also made guest appearances in other cities (Frankfurt, Graz , Dresden , Berlin , Vienna).

Hallenstein belonged to the Burgtheater in Vienna from May 3, 1871 to November 13, 1890 , where he was very busy from 1874. For example, in 1877 he played 156 days a year. He took part both in the farewell performance in 1888 in the old house of the Burgtheater (in the role of King Thoas in Goethe's Iphigenie on Tauris ) and in the first performance in the new house of the Burgtheater on October 14th.

Hallenstein was one of the founders of Schlaraffia from 1859 under the name Höllenstein the centaury in Prague . In Vienna in 1877 he was one of the founders of Schlaraffia Vindobona .

In 1890, Hallenstein retired due to poor memory and, in the hope of alleviating his suffering, moved to Baden near Vienna to a villa built according to his instructions (Helenenstrasse 20).

On September 27, 1892 the k. u. k. Hofburg actor completely insane and had to go to the private sanatorium of Dr. Löwy in Purkersdorf  - where he died a day later. He was buried on September 30th of that year in the Evangelical Cemetery Matzleinsdorf (Group 24, No. 35) in Vienna.

Katharina Hassel (also: Käthi; 1837–1905), daughter of the actor and opera singer Friedrich Hassel and Theodora Hassel, was a singer / actress at the Deutsches Theater in Prague until 1870 and Hallenstein's wife, their son, Adolf Hallenstein, was secretary at the Baden City Theater
